About IAHGS

Founded in 2025, the International Association for Hand Game Studies represents a pioneering effort to establish ludology — the academic discipline dedicated to understanding games as cultural phenomena, interactive systems, and meaningful human experiences — as the theoretical foundation for hand game research.

Our mission is to advance scholarly understanding of hand games through rigorous interdisciplinary research that combines theoretical frameworks from game studies with empirical methodologies from anthropology, psychology, linguistics, and mathematics.
